A LITTLEPORT man who has severe cerebral palsy, is unable to talk, is wheelchair bound and requires 24-hour care has defied his condition to raise thousands of pounds towards a new high-tech computer.

Adam King, 38, of Limes Close, completed a half marathon over five days in his wheelchair to raise more than £1,900 for a computer which could give him a lease of life.

Adam did five laps of a set route around the village every day for five days before finally finishing his challenge at Litteport Leisure Centre’s Fun Day on June 10.

Donations flooded in for Adam in the days after he completed the feat and his total now stands at £1,937.60, an excellent start as he attempts to raise the £16,000 needed to fund a new computer.

The computer, a Tobii C15, will allow Adam to engage in daily communication via text or symbols that generate speech. He will also be able to connect with friends, family through e-mail, text messaging and chat, while surfing the web.

Adam said: “I am happy to say I have raised £1,937.60 so far. I did well, I was even out last Friday in all that rain and wind!”
