A 14-year-old boy who took his mother’s gun into school as a bet with friends, was sentenced at a youth court in Cambridge last week.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was ordered to complete a 12-month youth rehabilitation order and ordered to attend meetings with the youth offending team. The court also called for the forfeiture and destruction of the gun. At a court hearing in Ely, prior to his sentencing, magistrates heard how he carried the pellet gun into school in his rucksack.
