More than 20 jobs have been created in Soham thanks to the opening of a new £2 million BP garage and M&S store.
The new station, on the A142, was officially opened by leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council – and conservative candidate for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayor – James Palmer.
The new 1.5-acre facility houses 190 square metres of sales space, five pump islands, two jet washes and an automated car wash and will create 25 jobs in the region.
Entrepreneur Jonathan James, whose company James Construction Development built the petrol station, said it is “much needed in the north of Soham and brings to life the aspirations of the Soham Vision.
“With the continued expansion of Soham and the ever increasing use of the A142 this development with provide modern facilities for residents and motorists alike,” he added.
