Book full of stories written by local youngsters - Ely 501 - sells out on first day of publication
An anthology of creative writing penned by local children has sold out during its first day of publication.
Every copy of Ely 501, a 200-page book full of stories written by children across East Cambridgeshire, was snapped up during a special event at Burrows Bookshop on July 1.
The event followed a prize-giving ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Ely for the book’s 48 young contributors.
New copies of the book will be available soon thanks to the competition’s organisers, Burrows Bookshop and Mr Simms Ely.
Annabel Reddick of Burrows said: “It’s amazing. The book is more than 200 pages long and contains almost 50 unique stories written by local children. We underestimated demand for the book by a long way.”
Burrows will be taking orders for the book until July 21. For more information, call Burrows Bookshop on 01353 669759.
