A “large number” of schools across Cambridgeshire received bomb threats this morning (March 19).

The threats are understood to be part of a series of incidents targeting schools across the UK.

It is not clear which schools in Cambridgeshire received the threat, which were sent via e-mail, but it is understood that Brampton Village Primary School was among them.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: “The e-mail has been received by a number of schools in the county but no evacuations. We have advised all schools in the county that this is a hoax.”

It is understood that the threats have been made across the country, including in London and Northumbria.

A Cambridgeshire County Council spokesman said: “A large number of Cambridgeshire schools received a non-specific bomb threat this morning (March 19) just after 9.30am.

“All schools who received this e-mail have been advised to report the threat to the police which they have been doing.

“The police have assessed the risk as low as no specific school has been targeted.

“Schools have been advised to do a thorough check of their premises and nothing of concern has been found.”
