A LORRY caused rush-hour chaos for motorists on the A14 this morning following a crash.

The huge 12-tonne vehicle brought traffic on both carriageways of the road between junctions 35 and 36 to a standstill at around 6.30am this morning after it collided with crash barriers - blocking the road and scattering huge amounts of debris.

Police confirmed this morning that a tyre blow-out on the lorry had caused the accident and that no other vehicles were involved with the crash.

The Highways Agency was also called to the scene to help clear the debris and reports suggested that the traffic was easing at around 9am.

Repairs to the damaged barriers will be carried out over-night with no further disruption expected this evening.
