AN elderly woman had a lucky escape when she set fire to her sausages in the oven on Monday night.
The woman didn't have a smoke alarm in her home on Parade Lane, Ely and noticed the blaze when she walked into the kitchen.
Two crews from Ely attended at around 5pm and the woman was shaken but unharmed.
Brett Mills, crew manager at Ely Fire Station, said: "The flames could have spread very quickly and she may have been unable to escape.
