A GROUP calling themselves the Big Hearted Charity Bikers have set themselves a big charity target for a sponsored ride this weekend.
More than 30 bikers are taking part in the ride from Little Downham to Great Yarmouth, via Hunstanton and Cromer, on Saturday.
Paul Badcock, co-founder of the fund-raising group and organiser of this event, would like to raise £10,000, which will be divided equally between CLIC Sargent and the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, more specifically for the hospital's paediatric cancer unit.
He said: "That is my personal target. I would love to be able to give each charity £5,000 but if we don't reach the target I won't be disappointed. Every little helps."
Mr Badcock, 40, lives in his Town's End home in Little Downham with his wife Angela and their two children, Gary, 13, and Chloe, 10. He decided to raise money for the two cancer charities to say thank you for the help and support they have provided to his godson Joshua Hinchliffe, who is battling cancer for the second time since 2007.
Mr Badcock said: "This is for my godson and it is my way of saying thank you to the charities for all that they have done for him."
The bikers will stay in Great Yarmouth on Saturday night. On the return stretch of the journey on Sunday they will stop at Red Lodge Karting to take part in a two-and-a-half hour endurance race.
Mr Badcock explained: "Instead of asking companies to sponsor us as normal, we decided to ask them to get a team together and come and take part in a karting race. It's something a different, it will be a bit of fun, but hopefully it will still raise money."
The bikers will meet at The Plough in Little Downham on Saturday morning and will set off on their journey at 9am.
