AFTER hearing that her landlady had slept with her boyfriend, Sadie Ogilvie trashed both of their houses.

She received the news in a text message from her landlady, Natasha Kerslake, on June 30.

The next day Miss Ogilvie, 20, of Ramsey Road, Ely, met Miss Kerslake at Aquafest and slapped her in the face before heading off and damaging furniture and cutting electric cables in the two houses.

Her boyfriend dropped the charges but Francesca Devine, prosecuting, asked magistrates to take the incident into account, at Ely courthouse on Tuesday.

Mrs Devine presented magistrates with photographs of the damage to the properties and asked for £780 compensation.

Miss Ogilvie represented herself and admitted that she had let her anger get the better of her.

She said: "I felt I had been betrayed by my boyfriend and friend and lost control. I wish it had never happened."

But when magistrates said she would have to pay the full £780 compensation she argued this was unreasonable.

She explained the cost of the damage was nowhere near that amount and she could not pay. She asked magistrates to study the photographs further.

Ogilvie was made to pay £250 compensation, £55 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. She was also given an 18-month conditional discharge.
