Provision for nesting Pipistrelle bats and a brown long-eared bat must be made by a developer looking to replace a subsiding bungalow in Haddenham with two detached homes.

An ecological survey of the bungalow at 40 Lode Way found the bats roosting in the roof space and a mature willow tree on the site. A licence will be needed from Natural England if the applicant Mr S Glover is to demolish the bungalow legally and he will have to provide replacement bat roosting sites.

Mr Glover has submitted his application to East Cambs District Council for consideration and has included a design statement provided by PlanSurv.

The statement concludes the proposed development is in keeping with the character of the immediate vicinity. It also says the homes will have a minor positive impact.
