FAMILY service for this week began with our minister, the Rev Jim Mullin, welcoming everyone, including our many friends from the Methodist Chapel who were joining us for this week, plus a few visitors. Our musicians for the day were Jackie, David, Eddie and John, with Anne leading the singing. Joy gave out the notices and Happy Birthday was sung to Edna, Fred and Sid. She then told us of the dates for the Lent lunches. Myra then took over in leading the service for the children with a Bible reading from Luke, after which the puppets, Polly and Tim gave us a sketch with the help of Bernie and Don about the colours that they really like, and how we should not be against others who may have a different skin colour to our own. This was followed by singing, with the children showing the adults how to do the actions to what they were singing. Rachel, Daniel and Joy acted a little sketch on showing kindness to others and maybe giving others that which we may treasure the most, in this case, a pair of trainers. The offering was taken up by Don and Joy. Another sketch followed with Jo, Myra, Lynn, Jackie and David about how it really does not matter about what clothes that we might wear for church services, as Jesus loves us for what is inside of our hearts. This was followed by a quiz between the adult congregation and the children. Guess who won? The children, of course.
