MORNING service this week was taken by Elizabeth. Musicians were: Jackie, Alan, Bob, David and Eddie, with Anne leading the singing. Joy welcomed everyone and gave out the notices. As the churches of Haddenham approach the study of 40 days of community, Jo and Bob spoke and told us a bit of what will be going on. Don then told us about what the teenagers are doing in Faithrocks and several people showed puppets, which they had made while attending this youth group.

Elizabeth then began the service and the congregation sang, and then spoke, of visiting God and about some of the trials we face in life.

This was followed by prayer. A sketch was then acted out showing how these things can shape our characters. She then told of how Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness, before giving His life for us.

This was followed by more singing as Gabrielle and Daniel took up the offering. The Bible reading was from Matthew (chap: 4 vv 1-11) which told the story of the 40 days and then Penny read a second lesson from Mark (chap: 3 vv 1-20). The theme for Elizabeth's talk was 'a desert place'. The service then closed with Holy Communion conducted by Pauline and Stuart, more prayer and the final hymn.
