AN Indian restaurant chef caught speeding on the A14 at Bottisham escaped a driving ban this week when he told magistrates that his family would suffer if he lost his licence.
Shanul Islam, who already had nine points on his driving licence, could have been banned for up to six months.
He admitted driving at 87mph on October 3 last year, when the speed limit was 70mph. He was fined £60 with £35 costs by Ely magistrates, and three points were endorsed on his licence.
