A TWENTY-one-year-old man arrested in Norfolk on suspicion of the murder of missing traveller Danny Hathaway has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Hathaway, 44 , whose body has not been found, was last seen by his long-term partner at their home in a travellers' site at Corby in Northamptonshire at around 5pm on February 7.

The mechanic left with £3,000 in his pocket and was due to fly to Australia the day after he disappeared for a holiday with his partner, Diane Furey, their two children and his father.

Officers in Cambridgeshire recovered an abandoned van from flood water at Sutton Gault, near Ely, on Tuesday night (February 13.)

The van is now being forensically examined at Northamptonshire Police Station.

A police helicopter was used to search the area where the van was found.

Senior Investigating Officer, Chief Inspector Katie Elliott, of Northamptonshire Police Homicide and Major Crime team, said: "Inquiries are still very much ongoing but we still need that vital piece of information to lead us to Danny. Anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant it may see, is asked to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact Northamptonshire Police on 08453 700700, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
