A MAN whose badly burnt body was discovered by fire crews near Littleport on Monday has been named by police.

The body of 18 year-old John Phillip Dean-Hessey of Church Lane in Littleport, was discovered by police and fire crews at around 5am on June 22, on land near Whitebridge Farm on Ely Road.

A post-mortem carried out at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge revealed that the farm worker died of smoke inhalation and burning.

Police announced at the time that they were treating the death as unexplained pending further investigations, and a spokesperson has since confirmed that the case has now been passed to the East Cambridgeshire Coroner's Office. An inquest into Mr Dean-Hessey's death was opened and adjourned today (Thursday).
