A BABY and two adults had to be taken to hospital following a house fire in Soham at the weekend.

The blaze took place just before 5am on Saturday with fire crews called in to rescue two kittens that were caught in the blaze at the house in Queensway.

Two engines from Soham were rushed to the scene and arrived to find smoke had engulfed much of the property. Crews managed to rescue the kittens and had the fire under control about 5.30am.

The baby and two adults, who were alerted to the flames thanks to their smoke alarm, were taken to hospital as a precaution after showing symptoms of smoke inhalation.

An investigation completed on Monday determined that the cause of the fire was accidental.
