The National Youth Arts Trust is launching its first youth theatre company in Ely, in February.

Students between the ages of 13-19 and studying at either Ely College, Witchford Village College, King’s Ely or Soham Village College will be eligible to audition. Also eligible are students who previously studied at one of these schools and are in the age bracket.

The Youth Theatre Company will be run by experienced theatre practitioners and offers professional training in drama and acting techniques and mentoring from industry professionals!

Workshops will be split by age groups and held weekly on Saturday afternoons and will cover a range of skills in vocal work, script work, devising, confidence building, team-work and improvisation; helping the participants explore their creative potential in drama.

There will also be the opportunity to create small performances for the local community using the skills and training learnt during the workshops. Workshops will be heavily subsidised, so costs incurred to the workshop participants is kept as low as possible.

The 16-19s group auditions will be held 10am at Ely College’s Needham Hall on Saturday (January 31) and re-call auditions will be held the same day at noon.

The 13-15s group auditions will be held at each respective school on January 28.
