THE man who tried to escape from the dock at Ely courthouse last week has been re-sentenced.
Michael Turner, 20, was given a two-week sentence in a young offenders' institution by city magistrates for an offence of assault.
It was then that he attempted to kick and punch his way to freedom, and nine police officers rushed to the courthouse to deal with the incident.
It later transpired that the sentence was not appropriate, and four days later Turner, of New Barns Avenue, Ely, was re-sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates' Court, and given a two-year conditional discharge instead.
