HOD carrier Mark Gillett could not be sentenced, because his new employer refused to give him time off to see the probation officer allocated to write his report.

Last month, 20-year-old Gillett admitted assaulting Robert Bailey, while persuading him to pay off a debt.

Mr Bailey was subjected to a verbal attack and pushed against a wall, the court was told.

Gillett, of Gateway Gardens, Ely, has been warned he could face jail. Magistrates deferred sentencing until August 2, and extended Gillett's conditional bail.
