AN armchair exercise class for elderly residents in Sutton is celebrating its second anniversary.

Run by three-time European karate champion Nato Ficarra, the weekly classes, held in Sutton, involve 12 ladies who are guided through a range of stretches and exercises they can perform from the comfort of their own armchairs.

Though it’s a far cry from the rough and tumble of the karate arena, Nato, 45, says it has continued to be popular with residents of the village.

He said: “It’s all about gentle exercise to improve health, fitness and well being I really enjoy it and have a real giggle with the ladies. The project has been a huge success thanks to the funding from Community Carts based at Witchford.”
