It was crafted by dozens of talented pupils for last year’s Ely Apple Festival – but the woven willow apple has now taken pride of place outside a show home.
The unique sculpture was installed outside the Hopkins show home at St James Park last weekend.
Mayor of Ely Councillor Mike Rouse proudly unveiled the sculpture outside the development.
The public art project saw children from the Isle of Ely Primary School create the entwined willow apple with local artist Jane Frost.
It was displayed at the opening of last year’s Ely Apple Festival which was sponsored by Orchards Green Hopkins Homes, the new community development north of the city.
Together with attractions such as woodturning, storytelling, apple and spoon races, folk music, candle making and the ever-popular longest apple peel competition - the annual event sees hundreds descend on the city for the apple-themed food and drink feast.
This year the event will take place on Saturday October 20.
