A PETITION opposing plans to build up to 8,000 homes between Stretham and Wilburton was signed at a rate of once a minute on Saturday.
Protestors had a stand at Ely Market and plan to present the petition to Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears.
A public exhibition was held at the Arkenstall Centre, Haddenham that night when more than 200 visitors were shown plans from Multiplex.

Anti-Mereham campaigners will gather for a public meeting at Wilburton Village Hall tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm.
