Anglian Water has offered customers affected by a burst water main in Littleport money off their next bill.

Thousands of homes in the village, as well as in Little Downham, Prickwillow and Coveney were left without water, or with very low pressure, for most of Monday because of a burst pipe.

Some homes remained with water until 1am the following day after complications encountered when fixing the leak.

Now, Anglian has apologised to customers “unreservedly” and has pledged to write to homeowners who were hit by the disruption offering £20 credit on their next bill.

A spokesman said: “We are also in contact with the local parish council about finding a local charity which would benefit from a donation of £1,000.

“We would like again to apologise to our customers unreservedly for the disruption caused, we understand how frustrating it is.”

MP for North East Cambridgeshire, Steve Barclay, welcomed the news.
