AN ambulance on its way to help the driver of an overturned car was itself involved in a crash on Tuesday.
A crew was called out from Newmarket to the overturned Seat Ibiza in Witchford Road on Tuesday morning, but was involved in a collision with a white Transit van just before 9.45am on the A142 between Stuntney and Soham.
Both the ambulance and the van were heavily damaged and although nobody was seriously injured, the ambulance crew were taken to West Suffolk Hospital by a second ambulance as a precaution.
A third ambulance was dispatched to deal with the Witchford Road incident, and crews freed a female driver from her car just before 10am, after which she was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, to be treated for minor injuries.
