Green-fingered Scouts from Ely are preparing for their second growing season at their very own allotment in the city.
The Scouts’ allotment is located in Upheards Lane and, last year, saw more than 80 members clear and prepare their plot for planting.
A variety of produce was grown, including potatoes, sweet corn, broad beans and strawberries and the Scouts are hoping to do even better this year, with a series of new crops planned.
Explorer leader, Ben said: “Our neighbouring allotment holders love it when we bring the young people down as it brings a little bit of life into the area, the Ely groups last year brought their Beavers and Cubs along to learn about how the veg. We hope to harvest some of our own grown veggies before Camjam.”
