St Mary’s Church in Ely is opening its gardens this weekend for a family-friendly summer celebration.

The free event will take place this Saturday, September 2, from midday. There’ll be balloon modelling, craft tables, inflatables, face painting, a BBQ and homemade cream teas served in a vintage style café.

There will also be children’s entertainment from KD Theatre Productions, with performances at 12.30pm and 3.15pm.

Expect lots of fun and sing-along-songs aboard the Jolly Roger as Buccaneer Becky and Sea Dog Sally ask the audience to help with their quest to find the buried treasure.

Organiser Lisa Olsworth-Peter, who runs the Ely Pop Up Gospel Choir, said: “We want to welcome everyone to St Mary’s for an afternoon full of fun, games and excitement. St Mary’s is very family friendly and we look forward to seeing lots of children and grown ups enjoying themselves in the grounds of our beautiful church.”

Chris Hill, St Mary’s vicar, said: “Our church is a community of all generations - we love it when we come together to celebrate life and faith.

“Everyone is welcome - whoever you are, wherever you are from - come and say hello.”
