Staff at the Waitrose store in Ely organised a whole week of fund-raising events for their chosen charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust. This included a supermarket sweep, tombola, hair shaving, leg waxing and section managers cooking meals for the staff. On Thursday and Friday, sixth form students from City of Ely Community College raised money by packing shopper's bags and the Ely Fire Service and Ely Cadets washed cars in the car park on Saturday.
One of the organisers at Waitrose, Lorraine Taylor, said "We raised £2,455.50 over the week; this is fantastic news, well over our target. We want to thank everyone for all of their hard work for such a worthy cause.
