Students at The Green Box- a secondary school support unit - have been able to take part in pottery classes, thanks to help from Arts Development in Cambridgeshire (ADeC).
The unit, based at Witchford Village College, does not have its own facilities to teach pottery, so local potter Anna Osborne took all the equipment to the pupils. She later took the completed works back to her own kiln for firing.
Sarah Ruff, who runs The Green Box, said it had been a valuable experience for the students and was only made possible because ADeC funded half of the cost and the rest of the money came from their own fund-raising. The project took six weeks to complete. They started with a visit to Ely Cathedral, studying the shapes and colours used in the medieval building for inspiration. These ideas were then used to make coil pots and tiles.
