YEAR 6 pupils at Downham Feoffees School were making Tudor boats on Monday as part of a history project.

The class of 10 -11 year-olds is studying how the Tudors lived and worked, particularly looking at Tudor exploration. Instead of answering a worksheet, the pupils had a practical lesson where they had to find out what Tudor boats looked like, design their own boats and make them from scratch, from construction to attaching the sails and painting them.

Around 25 children took part in the afternoon's activity and many spent the following day's lunchtime painting their boats. There will be a fun test at the end of term to see how many, if any, actually float.
