A MAN had to be cut free from a car following a collision in Wilburton on Monday.

The two-car smash happened at about 7.40pm on Stretham Road in the village, with firefighters and ambulance crews called to help three people, two of whom had suffered serious injuries.

When crews arrived one person had already released themselves from a car but a 40-year-old man has suffered serious injuries and had to be cut free from a car by firefighters. He was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge along with a 40-year-old women who also suffered serious injuries in the smash. Police closed the busy A1123 road through the village while the road was cleared, with the Magpas air ambulance also on scene.

The road was re-opened to traffic at about 9.30pm.
