AGNES Hubbard, of Haddenham, died peacefully on January 8, aged 98 years, at Lily House, Ely, where she had spent the last five years.

Born in March, she was the eldest of five children. Her father died during the influenza epidemic of 1918 aged 33. Her husband Vic, died in 1991. During their life together they lived in Crowle, Scunthorpe, Great Dunmow, Braintree, Ely and finally Haddenham.

Agnes was an accomplished pianist playing for silent films, concerts, pantomimes, dancing classes, both Old Tyme and Classical. She loved needlework and her tapestry of the Last Supper is in the church.

She is survived by her son Ray and daughter Janet, son-in-law Peter, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral took place on January 22, the service was led by the Rev Fiona Brampton, followed by interment with her husband.
