THE Littleport Show takes place on Saturday at the Highfield Show Ground on the Ely Road. This year, for the first time, there will be a free shuttle bus in the village with nine pick-up points passing each point at 15-minute intervals.

The show opens at 9am and will run until 6.30pm. In the main area, visitors will be entertained by The Extreme Motorcycle display team, who will perform three times during the day. There will also be displays by Ye Olde Red Tail Falconary Display Team, March Veteran Cycle Club, Vintage and Classic Vehicles and a heavy horse carriage display and plaiting demonstration.

The Marquee Theatre will host indoor performances featuring the Feathers School of Dance, Raz the clown and a baby show. There is an outdoor performance court as well. Here, the crowds will be entertained by the Soham Fenlander Majorettes, Littleport Players Amateur Dramatic Society and Punch and Judy.

If you enjoy gardening, there is the Littleport Horticultural marquee on hand. Or alternatively, the photographic competition and display might be more up your street. In addition to all of these displays and performances, there will be a host of trade stands, a craft marquee, market stalls and side shows to keep everyone interested.

The organisers have provided plenty of seating and refreshments with two beer tents, barbecues, burgers and seafood stalls and they have created a tea garden for the Littleport WI where visitors can have a cup of tea and tuck in to one of the delicious cakes on sale.

The show has been running since at least 1888 and is billed as one of Cambridgeshire's largest country shows with 4-6,000 people expected. With all of this to entertain you, make sure you make a trip to the show.

For those of you who enjoy live music, the following week, Highfield Open-Air Live will take place at the same venue from 6.45pm-11.15pm, with Robbie Williams, Abba and Bee Gees tribute bands, rock 'n' roll from the Rock Islands Rebels and Tim Lee Disco.
