A motorbike-rider has died after a serious crash on a busy road near the Suffolk border early this morning.

The crash, which happened on the A1307 between Horseheath and Linton, was reported to Cambridgeshire Police just after 3.30am

Haverhill Police assisted their colleagues across the border and warned motorists the road is “likely to be closed for some time”.

Ambulance crews also attended but the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, died at the scene.

“It is believed that another vehicle may have been involved but left the scene,” a spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said.

Police later confirmed officers were looking to speak to the driver of a van in connection with the collision.

The spokesman added: “Officers investigating a fatal collision on the A1307 in the early hours of this morning are appealing to motorists who may have been in the area prior to the incident.

“In particular they are keen to trace the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter van that was registered from 2016 onwards.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cambridgeshire Police 101 quoting incident 40 of the August 29.
