Michael Cornell, a Year 11 student at Soham Village College, had his dreadlocks cut off on Tuesday to raise money for Liam Fairhust's fund raising for CLIC Sergent. Community Fundraising Manager for the charity, Karen Roberts, told the Ely Standard: "Michael was inspired by Liam. He has had his dreadlocks for about five years now and was sponsored to have his head shaved if Liam did the first cut."

Pupils from the college were present to watch Liam start the proceedings. He was replaced by Danny and Nichol from Alison Muir's Hairdressers in Soham and Michael ended up with a grade three crew cut. Stephen Kenna, assistant Principal of Soham Village College said "Liam has just been through chemotherapy so Michael having his head shaved was symbolic; he thought it was an appropriate way to raise money for CLIC Sergent. Michael has raised over £1000 in sponsorship, we also passed buckets around on Tuesday and pupils donated over £100.

Liam is well on the way to his target now with over £80,000 so far.
