SCOUTS past and present packed Ely Cathedral on Sunday for a special service to mark the 150th birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the scouting movement.
More than 600 attended the service, including Ely Mayor John Ison and chairman of the district council, Cllr Richard Hobbs, and the service was followed by a reunion reception at King's School.
Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Hugh Duberly led the address, which celebrated 100 years of the scouting movement.
Chris Ward, of Cambridgeshire Scouting, said the event was a fitting tribute to founder's day, which was on Thursday.
"The service was excellent," he said.
"Not least the enthusiastic presentation from the Cambridgeshire Jamboree Unit and the Lord Lieutenant's history of the Scout movement, and its effects on generations of young people over the last 100 years; afterwards the reception was very enjoyable - an opportunity to meet many old friends not seen for some time.
