IT must have been love at first sight when rugby fans Kirsty Forsdike and Travis Bean starting heckling each other at a World Cup match between England and Samoa in Australia four years ago.

And on Saturday, the couple, who are now married and living in Ely, celebrated the anniversary of their first meeting by watching the two sides play again in the same competition in France.

Kirsty said of the first meeting with her Australian husband: "I was there on my own with my England shirt, a giant flag and the cross of St George painted on both cheeks and this guy turned to me and said, 'who're you barracking for then?'

"It was a really tight match; I was frightened England wouldn't win and Travis kept giving me stick about it, but the team just pulled through.

"We swapped numbers and he asked me out a week later. At the end of my trip, he flew back to England with me and we got married in Australia in March this year.

Kirsty, 27, used to captain her university rugby team in Bristol.

She now works as a banking and finance lawyer in London and Travis, 35, is an IT trainer.

Kirsty said: "We couldn't believe it when we saw the draw for this year's World Cup. We decided we had to go to the match and I went into work early the next day to book tickets."

England won Saturday's game 44-22, setting up a decisive final group game with Tonga tomorrow (Friday).

Kirsty said: "There was a superb carnival atmosphere at the game. Just like four years ago the match was very tense for a while, but this time, Travis was on my side and he even had England flags painted on his face. But if England play Australia in the quarter final, we'll certainly be barracking each other once again.
