PUPILS from several Ely schools visited a Feast of Fenland exhibition to discover a slice of food and farming life in the Fens.

Groups of youngsters were treated to tasting sessions, story-telling and renditions of traditional songs at the exhibition, at Ely Museum on Market Street, which runs until November 30.

Sally Austin from Ely Museum said: "The most exciting thing has been the chance to taste and eat delicious food from the Fens, thanks to the generous support of Waitrose and Shropshire's. Teachers commented that the children had been really adventurous."

Mrs Austin added that children even tried Shropshire's famous beetroot cake, and that Soham Pumpkin fair also donated colourful squashes and pumpkins for an exhibition.

St John's Primary School pupil William Cutforth won second prize in Ely Museum's autumn mini-show with his vegetable monster.
