PYMOOR show committee members have spent the winter months organising entertainment for a bumper show aimed at the whole family.

At this year's event, on July 1, there is a bigger and better selection of attractions in the main ring such as terrier racing, English School of Falconry, gun dogs display, punt gun demonstration, vintage parade and blind motorcycle rider Billy Baxter, from Haddenham, who has appeared on Top Gear. Billy lost his sight while serving with the Army in Bosnia and will be riding Ted the Clydesdale, of children's book fame! There will also be an historic American link as a contingent of the 13th Alabama Infantry will be set up on site with an encampment and a field hospital. There will be lots of gory amputations going on during the day for those of blood-thirsty nature.

This year the Ponies UK Show has been moved to opposite the main showground with classes not just to qualify for the National Championships but for local riders as well. Two local bands; Error 404 and Ascendia will be playing live at the beginning of the show and between some of the main ring events. Also again this year a clay shoot will be held on Lane Farm.

Novices and beginners can have a go as there will be trained shooters on site to give any tuition needed. There is a special treat for all dogs and their owners. Firstly, a "Scurry" taking place all day where the dogs are timed over a 25metre dash jumping straw bales and also in the main ring there will be two sessions of terrier racing.

"The show is about Agriculture and the countryside and publicising all the current issues, although the main objective is to raise as much money as possible for charity and local amenities," said committee member Steve Knowles.

"Last year over £6000 was given to charity and the target is to improve on that figure in 2006. This year's main charities are: British Wireless for the Blind, The Alzheimer's Society and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

"There is so much for everyone to do at this one day Show held in the Fens: children's rides, exhibits and displays, refreshments for all tastes, full bar facilities, craft marquee, food hall, big screen for the World Cup, livestock area with rare breed sheep and horses, cattle, pigeons, pigs, alpacas, family pets and much much more."

Sue Marchant, from BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, will again be the compere with the help of Big Edna, so they will prove a highlight on their own! This is the one show you should not miss, the kids and granny will love it. There will also be free entertainment in the evening from another local Fen band 'Or Wot' and if you are still hungry there will be a barbecue.
