The 999 emergency phone line in Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas is back up and running again following a period of outage earlier today.
The public were advised earlier today of issues with the 999 emergency phone line in the south east area of Cambridgeshire, as well as in some areas of Suffolk and Essex.
A police spokesman said: βIt was later established this was a wider issue with British Telecom (BT) that was affecting all telephone usage, not just to the emergency 999 number.β
The police was notified of the issues by BT at 11am this morning (Tuesday February 23). There was also an issue with the 101 service, which ran a reduced service.
The service has been back up and running since about 1.40pm this afternoon.
