Musicians and members of the Green Party raised £550 for Ely Foodbank at a charity gig.
The concert, held last month at the Kings Arms pub in Ely, was inspired by the Green Party’s ethos of social justice, alongside recent statistics that show increased Foodbank use over the past five years. It raised £550.
As well as monetary donations, the bands also promoted a food collection on the night and received a substantial amount of non-perishable items.
Will Law, Green Party member and event organiser, said “We are all extremely grateful for the support we received and, because we hit our £250 target, Hanson Aggregates has offered to match our donation.”
The line-up included Vidmante Puidokaite, Saskatchewan and God Hates Astronauts. Just William and the Outlaws, headed by Mr Law, concluded the evening.
