A farm run by adults with learning difficulties is set to unveil a new £50,000 training kitchen thanks to a Big Lottery grant.
Prospect Trust at Snakewell Farm in Reach won the hearts of over 2,500 Anglia News viewers in last year’s ITV People’s Millions vote to gain the funding for its ‘No rot at Prospects Trust’ project.
The idea is to take seasonal gluts, ugly but edible and the overly ripe organic produce sown and grown on the 18-acre farm, which is run as a charitable social care farm, and transforming them into yummy new Prospects Products such as chutneys, sauces and preserves.
The kitchen has been installed and the co-workers are celebrating tomorrow (Friday) with a grand opening and afternoon tea for all those who helped make this project a reality.
The official ribbon cutting will take place from 1.30pm until 3pm. Live music will be provided by The Rocking Ukulele Band of Ely, a member of which is a regular volunteer on the farm. People have also been invited to enter their best bakes into the Great Snakehall Farm Bake Off competition so there should be plenty of cake to aid celebrations.
