Owners of a Haddenham house unknowingly being used to grow cannabis thanked police “for all their good work and commend them on their professionalism in dealing with this complex situation”.

CB Groundworks and Construction Ltd posted a statement to social media after the three occupants were arrested during a raid in which an estimated £48,000 worth of cannabis was found.

Ely police carried out a warrant on the house a week ago and seized the cannabis and arrested three suspects.

CB Groundworks said they were contacted by police the night before and asked for permission to enter the premises they let out.

“We believed the tenants to be kind and hardworking and worked locally on a farm picking vegetables / fruits etc,” said the company.

“Unbeknown to us they were growing cannabis in the property; they have now been arrested and the drugs seized and their operation is now shut down.

“We would like to make this very clear that CB Groundworks has no responsibilities at all with this situation and worked with the police in this incident and appreciate all they have done.”
