Cambridgeshire food reviewer Lucy Melton shares her thoughts following a recent visit to Cup of Coffee Bakery House in Ely
I tried the brand new Cup of Coffee Bakery House in Ely, it only opened last week on 14th July so I was happy to get there straight away.
It replaced what was Tamarin Bay and I'm glad something took its place quickly as it's a great location and a really good restaurant space with plenty of seating options.
They also do takeaway coffee and cakes.
The menu has a great selection of sweet and savoury treats, including toasties, waffles and pancakes.
I had the halloumi and mushroom toastie with garlic sauce and rocket, it was delicious.
It was packed full of ingredients and they all brought plenty of flavour, it was all tied together by the bread which was freshly baked that morning, a great touch.
My mum had the caprese sandwich with tomato, mozzarella and pesto.
Again it had plenty of ingredients and it had a lovely fresh taste.
She also had a latte which was a good size and perfectly made.
I couldn't resist taking away a sweet treat as they had a great selection that all looked delicious.
After much deliberation I went for the chocolate croissant swirl.
It had a lovely crispy, flaky pastry with a generous amount of Nutella on top and pistachio crumb.
It was slightly under-baked in the middle, but it was really big so that didn't matter too much to me.
I loved my visit here, all the team are extremely friendly and made sure to greet you straight away and the service was quick.
The new owner, Aleyna, bakes everything fresh daily and you can tell she has a lot of passion and love for her new shop.
