A man who was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after a fight in an Ely street has been released on bail.
Police were called to Station Drove, Shippea Hill at around 9.55pm on June 22 to reports of a fight.
A member of the public made the call to the force after witnessing the violence break out.
Police said a "large crowd" had formed around the men fighting and "many more people" were getting involved in the violence.
A man suffered minor injuries and a 27-year-old man from Ely was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been released on bail until September 21 while an investigation is ongoing.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary is urging the public to continue reporting incidents they witness.
A statement from the force reads: "Thanks to one woman who decided to call us about the violence she had witnessed, at least one person was potentially saved from serious harm at the hands of the man with the knife.
"We know it can be easy to turn a blind eye to crime that you witness if it doesn't directly affect you, but policing relies on the eyes and ears of the communities we serve.
"We can only act on what we know.
"If you see something that concerns you, please help us by reporting it."
