A contemporary choir festival described as "Cambridge's biggest singing weekend" is coming to Cambridgeshire, featuring a Britain's Got Talent winner.
The Cambridge Contemporary Choir Festival will take place at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on July 17 and July 18, offering a full programme of singing workshops, live performances, and interactive events for music lovers of all ages and experience levels.
The festival opens on Friday, July 17, with a brand-new event called The Big Big Collab, a blend of singing workshop and live music party.
Led by Carrie Rawlings, founder of The Collaboration Choir, the session invites attendees to learn harmonies before taking part in a bandeoke-style singalong to popular hits.
Ms Rawlings said: "If you sing in the shower, in a choir or just love listening to contemporary ensemble music you won't want to miss this festival.
"Come to beautiful Cambridge this July and celebrate the wonder of the human voice up close and personal."
She will be joined by Lizzie Deane of the Hawkestone Farmers Choir, who won Britian's Got Talent 2026, and a live band.
Admission for the Friday night event is priced at £25. Doors open at 6.45pm with the event running from 7.30pm to 10pm.
The magic continues on Saturday, July 18, with a day of workshops led by five of the UK’s top vocal coaches.
The first session, starting at 10am, is a family-friendly pop singing workshop led by Cambridge University-trained vocal coach and singer-songwriter Rachel Hill.
Designed for children aged four and above and their adults, the workshop aims to engage all ages in a lively introduction to group singing.
Later sessions include a gospel workshop with Lizzie Deane, a musical theatre session with Carrie Rawlings and Julie Stark—including a live performance and Q&A—and an a cappella workshop with internationally recognised choir director Helen Lappert.
Members of Strictly A Cappella will also perform.
All daytime workshops are priced at £15, with the family session ticket covering one adult and one child.
Throughout the day, Cambridge Market Square will host free pop-up performances by local singing groups.
The festival concludes with a Saturday night showcase hosted by Carrie and David Grant, known for their appearances as vocal coaches on BBC’s Fame Academy and ITV’s Pop Idol.
The evening will feature performances by Sing Space Cambridge, Strictly A Cappella, The Collaboration Choir, and Julie Stark.
It promises a lively celebration of contemporary choral music in one of the city’s leading venues.
Tickets for the showcase are £25 for adults and £15 for under-18s, with doors opening at 6.45pm.
