A new family-run Mediterranean restaurant will open in Ely this week after two years of planning.

Limora Mediterranean Restaurant and Bar offers a large menu of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, including swordfish and octopus.

Brothers Ozzy and Yalin Ata and their father Husnu Ata have been renovating the location for eight months, ready for the launch on Wednesday April 22.

Ozzy said: "My dad moved to Ely in 1994 and he has been in the food game since then.

"He used to run little takeaways and shops here and there, but he wanted to do something much bigger so he decided to open a restaurant called the Limora.

"It’s been in talks for about two years so we have been up and down the country looking for a decent location."

By chance, 12 Chequer Lane in Ely became available, so the family returned to the city to launch their restaurant.

Limora faced challenges with plumbing and electrical issues as well as drainage problems in the lead up to the restaurant opening.

But Ozzy said they managed to resolve everything and are ready for the official opening.

He said: "We’ve had a brilliant response from the local area.

"Everyone is really excited so we are looking forward to serving everyone."

Limora's Instagram account has already amassed more than 2,000 followers with users enthusiastically commenting their support for the new eatery.

Ozzy said that, compared to other restaurants in Ely, Limora has something new to offer customers.

He said: "If you look at all the restaurants in Ely, the decorations and everything is very similar.

"But we are very different with our service, our décor, the colour scheme, the customer service that we have got, and the team that we are working with.

"They have got a hell of a lot of experience."
