A dusty display is set to sweep over Cambridgeshire this week as the Met Office says there is a possibility of "blood rain".
Blood rain is the kind of rain that takes on a reddish tint once it reaches the ground, and the colour can vary from a rusty hue to deeper reds.
The Met Office said that while "genuinely red rain" is extremely rare, once the rain dries there is typically a thin film of dust left on cars, windows or outdoor surfaces.
Saharan dust is set to travel northwards across Europe and the UK this week which will see bright colours at sunset on Thursday (March 5) and sunrise and sunset on Friday (March 6).
The Met Office has said that people may notice a light coating of dust on vehicles or windows, slightly reduced visibility at higher altitudes if the dust layer is particularly concentrated, and vivid sunrises and sunsets.
A spokesperson added: "If you're planning to wash your car, waiting until the end of the week may be wise, as additional dust pulses could reach the UK before conditions settle."
