A long term forecast from the Met Office suggests that snow could fall across areas in Cambridgeshire.

According to weather service, there is an increased chance of snowfall between February 7 to February 16 in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties.

This is due to frontal systems over the Atlantic which will likely turn to rain across northern England and Scotland and potentially even snow.

The Met Office has said that s subtle shift southwards of these areas in anticipated in the second week of this month, which may allow for a greater chance of colder air to hit the region and increase the chance of snow.

The forecast states that there will be an "increased risk of wintry hazards" when the colder air comes.

Cambridgeshire has already had a few flutters of snow since Christmas and New Year which eventually turned to ice.

This marked the return of the famous Fen Skaters who take to frozen fields in the wintry weather to play sports and skate.

It is good news for those who do not want to see a return of snow, as the Met Office predicts that this spell will only last a week or so.

The long range forecast from February 17 to March 3 states that while snowy, wintry weather may linger, temperatures will return to close to average for most parts of the country.
