This week, the Ely Standard is looking back on winter weather across East Cambridgeshire throughout history.

We have delved into the Cambridgeshire Community Archive Network to look at how the seasons changed in the region.

We have photos from as early as 1918, where flooding caused a problem in Ely for many.

In 1928, people had to use a boat to cross the flooded land between Sutton Gault and Sutton as the footbridge between the two hamlets had not been built yet.

40 years ahead, children enjoyed a snowball fight on St Mary's Street in Ely.

Over the coming weeks, we will be looking through the archives to find photos of winter and the festive season in East Cambridgeshire.
