Ely will commemorate Remembrance Sunday with a parade and service at Ely Cathedral.

The City of Ely Branch Royal British Legion is inviting the public to join a day of remembrance on November 9.

The day starts with a 10am parade from the Porta Gate to Ely Cathedral, featuring veterans, cadets, and other organisations.

The Service of Remembrance will begin at 10.30am inside the cathedral, with a poppy cascade and a two-minute silence.

The parade will then regroup outside the cathedral around 11am, moving down the High Street to the Market Square.

A short wreath-laying ceremony will follow, with a march in salute to the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

The parade will end around 1pm.

Armistice Day will also be marked on Tuesday, November 11, with a short service at the Ely War Memorial at 10.50am.

Wreaths will be laid by the mayor of Ely, the Chairman of East Cambridgeshire District Council, and the president of the City of Ely Royal British Legion Branch.

The public is welcome to attend both events.
